Semi-formal party dress code? - semi formal dress code

I take a semi-formal party on Sunday. The dress code is semi - formal dudes, black and blue. I thought that with a striped shirt with a blue tie, blue and gold, gold braid on it and black pants ... not very good, and I wear a blazer / jacket over it. Other ideas?
